The adidas Consortium ‘Workshop’ is a place for exploring the pure story of adidas Originals:
designed without affiliation or association by the brand’s in-house team, the footwear
showcases their pioneering outside-the-box creative and technical thinking. The resulting
collections are an ode to both the functional innovation and cultural touchstones at the heart of
adidas Originals. The first two Workshop collections, launched at the end of 2017 and beginning
of 2018, each focused on retro-futuristic ‘A//D’ packs. Each pair offered a ‘parallel-dimension’
take on much-loved but little-seen silhouettes of the past, upgrading each with premium,
contemporary details and space-age colourways.
The latest Workshop collection, releasing this August, marks a slight departure from the
previous iterations, A shoe which takes Inspiration from 90s wall street styling and the rigours of
an everyday life to equip the wearer with everything they need. The accompanying campaign
imagery highlights the shoes’ irreverent qualities further, placing them in contrast to a hyper-
refined setting and sharply tailored outfits.
This pack is taking the cross-training genre to a new and rather literal place-asking the question:
what happens if we try to design a shoe drawing on inspiration from all sports? One that draws
on our expertise in basketball, soccer, skating, running, hiking… and pretty much everything
else in-between? The answer is two all-new lifestyle models, the SS2G and the Falcon. Each
pair takes a gleefully unrestrained, anarchic approach to hyper-functional design, incorporating
different iconic elements from past and recent releases. From rugged, outdoors-y functionality to
sleek, primeknit performance; from throwback colour schemes to contemporary, mix-and-match
silhouettes: the SS2G and the Falcon leave wearers prepared for everything and free to do
nothing at all.

The Kaiwa trainer innovates while remaining rooted in the Adidas archive, reframing the brand’s pioneering 90’s principle of comfort through geometry.
Kaiwa means ”conversation” in Japanese and here symbolizes the constant dialogue, between Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, around street culture, craftmanship and technology.
Kaiwa features a sleek leather upper accented by a subtle suede heel and contrasting midsole accents that create a bold 3D effect. These distinct of ”foam bubbles” wrap the foot in enhanced comfort while simultaneously fering a striking visual appeal.
Y-3 Kaiwa releasing in store on Thursday 3rd of August in sizes US 9, 9.5 and 10, price 350€ (sizes 8-11 available in Beam starting August 3rd at 11.00)
This summer, Vault by Vans reunites with premium Japanese menswear label, WTAPS, to present a collection, honoring master Japanese craftsmanship with Vans’ iconic design aesthetic.
The latest Vans WTAPS collection is the perfect balance between traditional and new-age style. WTAPS ingenuity is embodied through the OG Sk8-Hi LX, one of Vans’ most popular styles, embellished with bold orange flame accents along the quarter panels, and finished with all black laces. Vans x WTAPS also reimagines the OG Old Skool in two colorways, blue and green, as well as the Classic Era LX silhouette in a crocodile-textured quarter panel and a solid black and navy toecap.
In line with the WTAPS philosophy, the Vans WTAPS collection embraces every part of the design process to create a finely-crafted assembly of products that epitomizes material craftsmanship and a classic aesthetic, and reinforces Vans and WTAPS as the iconic brands that they are.

– The Boston-based, internationally-renowned sneaker emporium Concepts
presents its take on the first adidas model to have featured BOOST technology,
the Energy Boost
– This irreverent new interpretation alludes to both classic sporting colorways and
the infamous Chinatown massage parlors of Concepts’ hometown
adidas Energy Boost was the first model to feature BOOST technology. With BOOST’s
innovative use of micro-EVA cells to absorb and recycle impact, it has been at the forefront of a
revolution in adidas’ range of running shoes for half a decade now. The TechFit uppers mirror
the pioneering technology in the sole, offering precision-engineered support and flexibility in
A fitting celebration of the Energy Boost, a shoe designed with long-distance runners in mind,
comes from Boston’s Concepts. Just as their hometown marathon is revered by runners around
the globe, so too is the Concepts store among sneaker-heads from all over the world. At first
glance, their take on the Energy Boost draws on the sporting heritage of adidas’ iconic tennis
shoes, the brilliant white base and green accenting calling to mind the famous adidas Stan Smith
model in its original colorway. The athletics club mood is further enhanced by the use of a
towelling-effect Primeknit. As with many of Concepts’ shoe collaborations however, the shoe is
also a tribute to their own local, New England heritage. For this Energy Boost, that means subtle
nods to the infamous massage parlours found in Boston’s Chinatown – places that one might also
associate with towelling. The sporting green accents, most noticeable on the three stripes and
marbled outsole, are rendered in an opulent jade tone often found decorating the parlors. It is a
further blurring between pristine sports performance and gritty urban experience that results in a
deceptively intriguing lifestyle version of the Energy Boost.

– For their first collaboration since 2016, adidas Consortium and Japanese sneaker
legends Mita join forces on two new footwear styles
– Each shoe is inspired by the eye-catching interiors of the Mita store and its Tokyo
One of the most memorable collaborations from the 2016 adidas Consortium ‘World Tour’ saw
the Tokyo-based retailers Mita breathing new life into a rugged 90s style, the SeeULater hiking
shoe. Their latest team-up sees Mita applying their well-honed eye to one of the most
enduringly iconic sneakers from the adidas stable, alongside a new take on a future-classic.
This time, rather than looking to the great outdoors for inspiration, Mita and adidas Consortium
have focused on the details and surrounding streets that have made the Mita store a must-visit
destination for sneakerheads.
The NMD TS1 PKI is an evolved take on one of adidas’ most contemporary styles. Featuring
primeknit uppers, BOOST soles and a pull tab lacing system/heel tab combination, the sneakers
are perfectly suited to the hustle and bustle of contemporary Tokyo. The uppers also feature a
tonal mesh pattern that calls to mind the wire cages famously used to display each footwear
style sold within Mita.
Next up is the Mita iteration of the Stan Smith tennis shoe. The black and white colorway that
has played such a part in adidas’ history is rendered here in premium leather uppers and a
starkly contrasting sole. A host of blacked-out tonal additions, including heel tabs and metal
side-zips, are offset by white text that runs downs the entire length of the tongue and across the
heel. For the uninitiated, the text might look like an arbitrary sequence of aesthetically-pleasing
numbers and letters – in actuality they are the geographic coordinates for both the Mita store in
Tokyo and the adidas headquarters in Germany. Together, they exemplify the Consortium
mantra at the heart of this and many other collaborations: “The Respect is Mutual”.

Drop 3 takes place in a space where, when it comes to clothing, so much can go wrong: an industrial laundromat. From these images, a story around the perma-wrinkled collection begins to form, but nothing is what it seems in this this collaboration: the subversive images captured by photographer Brianna Capozzi find models Lexi Boling and Cat McNeil disregarding all the conventions of the space, turning the Landry moment into a surreal experience. In the adidas Originals x Alexander Wang world, if it’s wrong, it’s right.
