adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange – Packer & Solebox – Continental collision – Mid-Atlantic hues – Oceanic BOOSTs – Teaneck and Berlin meet in Iceland
Teaneck, New Jersey & Berlin – November 2017
The Sneaker Exchange 2017 challenges adidas Consortium’s retail partners to overcome geographical distance and cultural differences to find common ground and collaborate on a footwear pack.
The November installation of the Sneaker Exchange comes from New Jersey’s Packer Shoes and Berlin’s Solebox. Both luminaries in their respective territories, Packer and Solebox actually embrace aforementioned geographical distance and the space that separates them. They use the famous Silfra Rift, a point on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, as the basis for their UltraBOOST MID and an Energy Boost.
The visual inspiration for the sneaker pack is The Silfra Rift, and inland lake in Island. Its crystal clear water rises from deep within the earth and offers great underwater visibility with a rich array of blue tones.
The Primeknit upper on both models echoes air bubbles rising to the water’s surface, while the structure on the BOOST™ midsole continues a similar texture. The UltraBOOST MID is delivered in a darker Primeknit, capturing the essence of the deeper waters. The Energy Boost is lighter and the translucent overlay adds to the model’s striking, aquatic gradient.
At the Silfra Rift, divers are able to touch the North American and Eurasian plates at the same time. Besides the visual references the shoes also offer actual data: the depth chart lines of the shelf can be found on the grosgrain stripe detailing while precise co-ordinates – longitude/latitude – of each store’s location are imprinted on both models, too.
During the Sneaker Exchange it has become custom for partners to brand one shoe, applying logos and familiar detailing. Here, Packer Shoes and Solebox develop this notion further: they have their model, but the stores’ logos use each other’s typeface. A smart way to commemorate the collaboration.
Subdued hues and a calm look provide the aesthetic for the latest Karhu release. The design team looked to mute the outside noise and bright distractions from the colour palette. Turning to the brand archives, Karhu used a 90s silhouette called the “Trampas Plus” as inspiration. The Trampas Plus came in multiple one-colour, tonal editions like black, grey, and dark green.
The catalogue indicated these options as “stylish general purpose shoes” and were part of the walking collection.
The Synchron Classic features a dual density midsole unit, Air Cushion heel, and the unique “Synchron” lace construction across the forefoot. The model receives an olive night pigskin suede upper and water repellent nylon on the toebox and underneath the M-logo.
Synchron Classic comes in sizes US8-12 // 129€
Both Fusion 2.0 options feature a full pigskin suede upper with outdoor rope laces to complete the look. The first colourway receives an all black upper with grey accents on a grey midsole, while the second receives a grey upper with blue accents and an o-white midsole.
Hong Kong’s Juice & London’s Footpatrol team up to give their takes on Matchcourt Mid and Handball Top
adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange – Juice & Footpatrol – Sneakers and tourism – – Embroidered classics – – Inspired by souvenir jackets – – Two models make their Sneaker Exchange debut –
Hong Kong & London – October 2017
Each month this year, the adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange challenges the idea of collaboration, asking partners overcome differences in geography, aesthetics or language to establish common ground and shared narratives. London’s Footpatrol and Hong Kong’s Juice bring the latest instalment to life. Together the stores rework two cult classic models resulting in ground-breaking executions upon which both parties leave their firm mark. Above all, with authenticity true to themselves and one another.
Both London and Hong Kong are thriving cities for city dwellers and seekers. With travel and tourism comes an economy for souvenirs and memorabilia. From Hong Kong’s sprawling street-level market stalls to the traders who operate just along the street from Footpatrol’s Soho store, a shared appreciation for this form of trade and commerce served as the reference point for this release.
The Matchcourt Mid and the Handball Top are richly detailed with embroidered artwork – the first, bold and striking on the upper, the second, hidden and subtler on the lining. This execution highlights the partners’ mutual respect for craftsmanship and meticulous detailing which is involved in the creation of classic souvenir jackets. Often, these feature elaborately stitched designs of mystical or heraldic animals – dragons, lions– alongside references of the country or city of their origin.
While more seasoned sneaker aficionados will recognise them as icons from the adidas archive, this Sneaker Exchange release serves as a befitting moment to introduce both models to the younger sneaker crowd as well.
The Matchcourt Mid is a former basketball shoe embraced by the global skateboard community. Its traditional canvas upper is embellished with boldly coloured dragons and further embroidery. The Handball Top has enjoyed a similar route from indoor sports to street icon and as the more low-key of the duo, it is delivered with a blue suede upper and a gold-embroidered lining.
The Juice & Footpatrol Sneaker Exchange pack arrives with an extensive collection of bespoke souvenir merchandise: lighters, ashtrays, umbrellas, half-half scarves, plates, posters, postcards and more, all detailed with the names of the two partners.
The size and scale of this truly special collaboration proves that once the partners find common ground, creativity can really run wild.

This Saturday we will have two new separate releases from the adidas Consortium Collection
Limited Edt Superstar
Singapore, October 2017
adidas Consortium reunites with Singapore-based retailer Limited Edt and presents a luxury rendition of the Superstar. The release is a follow up to Limited Edt’s stunning pack in 2015 and coincides with the refitting of their Vault store.
The new store maintains a hidden special section modeled on a bank vault and references the sublime interiors of gentlemen’s clubs decorated in burgundy, gold and mahogany. It stocks exclusive footwear alongside presentations of special editions and the rarest sneakers.
Limited Edt takes the Superstar silhouette and reworks the model to pay homage to their Vault store. While its previous collaboration with adidas Consortium was unequivocally bold, this one plays with contrasts. The outside of the upper is the more refined section. In burnished burgundy and with the stripes removed, it looks reminiscent of a dress shoe. As well as arriving in a similar color to the store’s interior, Limited Edt draws inspiration from smoking jackets and cigar rooms. The grade on the shell toe reimagines the Superstar’s signature detail as though it was part of a leather sofa. The result is an luxurious and understated profile.
The medial part of the Limited Edt Superstar is bolder. It shows a detail from the 2015 ZX Flux which was covered with floral, Batik-inspired patterns. The complex dying method is traditionally used in Southeast Asia and in 2017 Limited Edt incorporates this regional element as an embroidery. In greens, red, gold, and blue, it is a rich and eye-catching explosion of color.
Limited Edt’s ambition was to create a Superstar that was clean on the outside and detailed on the inside – both sophisticated and flamboyant – and it manages to do both. It literally just depends on one’s point of view!
– plain burgundy burnished full leather upper
– leather shell toe
– tan leather lining
– co-branded tongue labels and copper eyelets
– gold embossed adidas and Limited Edt logo detailing on lateral side
– Batik-inspired embroidery on medial side
– off-white vintage Superstar outsole
– co-branded leather insoles
– flat cotton laces in matching burgundy

Xhibition – Terrex Tracefinder
Cleveland, October 2017
Opened in 2014, Cleveland’s Xhibition has quickly made a big impression – showcasing high-quality, hard-to-find clothing and footwear from across the globe to the American midwest. Founded upon the ambitions to “inform, educate and entertain”, Xhibition has managed to blur the line between retailer and gallery space; communicating the story behind every brand. Together with adidas Consortium, Xhibition goes a step further and takes the story of Cleveland to the rest of the world.
Sat on the southern shore of Lake Erie, Cleveland is subjected to tough winters. Heavy snowfall and cold conditions make high-performing, technical outerwear a fundamental part of daily urban life. Xhibition presents a Terrex Trailfinder which combines outdoor performance requirements with striking aesthetics – fit for the streets and the ridges.
The model contrasts grey boiled wool with black leather overlays, the result is a compact, weather-resistant upper designed to keep the wearer well protected. A rugged, hardwearing sole is vital for grip but it is complemented by a partially exposed BOOST midsole for further cushioning. Here, Xhibition cleverly co-opts a technology developed for runners and implements it to provide outstanding comfort levels for a new, harsher environment.
While the strap provides enhanced ankle stability, it is also a small nod to adidas’ sporting heritage – evoking images of an era in which most tennis, basketball and running shoes were constructed with this detail to add further support. The strapping has three subtle stripes and with the bright, eye-catching lacing it creates a bold accent against the darker tones of the body.
While developing the model, Xhibition imagined the wearer lost in the nearby mountains of Appalachian Ohio. The goal was to create a shoe suitable for survival. If the Terrex Trailfinder was good enough to survive in the wilderness, then it would also stand up to the challenges of urban life. Designing functional footwear that does not look out of place on a store’s sneaker shelf presents a further challenge, but with smart use of materials and careful detailing the Terrex Trailfinder bridges the gap effortlessly.
– boiled wool upper with leather overlays
– wrap-around mid-foot/ankle strap with 3-Stripes branding
– micro-fleece lining
– gusseted tongue construction
– co-branded tongue labels
– nylon heel pull tabs
– adidas Performance and TERREX branding on heel counter
– segmented midsole with BOOST™ technology
– Continental™ Rubber outsole
– co-branded insoles
– lace loops for enhanced stability and flexibility
For the latest drop of A//D Parallel Dimension, adidas Originals presents two new iterations of Adistar Comp A//D + TwinStrike A//D silhouettes in a new grey color palette.
The brand takes things back to the early days telling the story of the discovery of an alternate Universe following the appearance of a massive black-hole in outer space. In this new expedition into the parallel dimension, researchers find that the two worlds are virtually identical, with the exception of minor aesthetic differences.
The latest drop of A//D Parallel Dimension redefines Adistar Comp A//D + TwinStrike A//D silhouettes in an updated execution through material and colors.
First up, the Twinstrike A//D is constructed with Climacool mesh, premium suede, glossy leathers and reflective details are combined in a striking, futuristic design, finished with a complex ergonomic lacing system for optimum fit.
The Adistar Comp A//D features a similar material construction of Climacool mesh and premium suede atop the original tooling of its namesake, whilst the shoe’s lacing system is defined by webbing tape panels across the vamp and sides.
Both shoes feature a wealth of details alluding to the interdimensional explorations that led to their discovery – including a number that require closer inspection to uncover.
The new color ways will be released on Wednesday 25th of October @ 10:00.
